San Diego Unified serves more than 121,000 students in pre-school through grade 12 and is the second largest district in California. There are 117 traditional elementary schools, 9 K-8 schools, 24 traditional middle schools, 22 high schools, 49 charter schools, 13 atypical/ alternative schools and 5 additional program sites. The district is so big that except for Coronado Island, every school in the Central San Diego section of this website falls within SDUSD boundaries.
Coronado Unified School District is a small district on Coronado Island(actually, it's a peninsula now) across the bay from downtown San Diego. The district has a preschool, 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school, 1 high school, high school arts program, a credit recovery high school, and an adult school.
